ID Release and No ID Release Sperm Donor

Choose whether your adult child can submit a contact request to their donor

Open and Closed Donations

Do you want to give your child the option to contact their donor as an adult? An open donor - also known as an ID release donor – allows your child to submit a contact request when they reach legal age.

At Born, we supply sperm from donors who have either elected ID release or no ID release status - it’s completely up to the donor and decided before donation.

About ID Release Donors

An ID release donor consents that donor-conceived children of legal age can try to connect with the donor by submitting a contact request to our team at Born.

It’s important to note that donors are not obligated to accept contact requests. They’re also not informed about who receives their units or when children are conceived with their sperm – so only a child can make a contact request.

ID release donors also consent to share extra details about themselves in a donor profile. An ID-release donor profile helps paint a better picture of the donor, which you can download as a PDF. It includes details like the donor’s job, hobbies, education and baby photos – plus our impression of the donor.

About No ID Release Donors

A no ID release donor is not contactable and a contact request cannot be made. A no ID release donor profile will include basic information such as eye colour, hair colour, height, and weight – as well as our description of the donor. Baby photos may be included if the donor consents.

Pregnancy Limits

To ensure that ID release donors cannot potentially be contacted by hundreds of offspring, donor sperm from our ID release donors is capped for purchase by the fertlity countys limits. This limit is also extended to some of our no ID release donors.

Protecting Our Donors

It’s important to us that donors are fully informed about the implications when making a decision about ID release or no ID release - and that the choice is completely their own.  Before approving donors, we offer comprehensive information and advice.

We’re committed to protecting the privacy of our donors. Purchasing donor sperm means you agree to not to try to track down the donor - either for yourself, or on behalf of your children.

Rules and Regulations in Your Country

It’s important to note that regulation around ID release and no ID release donors differs from country to country. Before selecting a donor, we recommend that you explore the legal options in the country where you are based. We’re always available to guide you by phone or email – simply reach out.
